Unpacking communicators’ predictions for generative AI with the Stories and Strategies podcast

Will generative AI be an ally or nemesis for marketing and PR professionals in 2025?

Doug Downs, the host of the Stories and Strategies podcast recently had me on to discuss the annual predictions compilation we posted in December. The post titled, Machina or ex-machina: ~40 marketing and comms predictions for 2025, included mixed views of generative AI. All said, the responses tended to fall into three fairly even camps:

  • Those communicators who think generative AI is a panacea;
  • Those communicators who maintain a healthy skepticism; and
  • Those that are unsure.

We discussed a handful of the nearly 40 predictions on this show (but I’ve narrated all of them here).

The full podcast runs just 26 minutes and is available on Apple, Spotify, and Pocket Casts among other platforms (RSS). The audio embed code below is to the full episode published on Spotify and the YouTube video contains just the segment where were are discussing the predictions.

The full show is worth listening. Doug sets the discussion up with an interesting and historical anecdote bout another technological transition called “the horseless carriage.”
